Metropolia Humanitarian Aid Fund for Ukraine Has Supported over 80 Projects since Its Inception

The Metropolia Humanitarian Aid Fund for Ukraine has supported 82 projects in the amount of $6.9 million since it was established in 2022.

The Fund has received donations from Ukrainian parishes in the USA, private donors, schools, Roman Catholic dioceses and organizations who showed solidarity with the people of Ukraine defending their freedom and independence.

Rev. Roman Oliynyk, who is currently on a working trip to Ukraine, had the opportunity to visit a large number of organizations that, having received help from the fund, were able to help those affected by the war. Among the institutions visited were:

- the  Basilian monastery-seminary in Brukhovychi, where more than 100 IDPs found their home and loving care. Majority of refugees come from the area near Bakhmut. They have no place to go back to as their houses and apartments were destroyed by the russians;

- Caritas of the "Sambir-Drohobych Diocese" headed by Father Ihor Kozankevych and the rehabilitation center "Nazaret", the homeless community "Nasha Khata" and other initiatives started by Caritas. These organizations serve IDPs, especially the elderly and those with special needs; children, homeless and addicted;

- The rehabilitation center of Western Ukraine, where fighters are undergoing rehabilitation, treating their wounds and preparing to return to their units. "The Russians never understood that they cannot kill our Kozak spirit," said the director of the hospital;

- Saint Nicholas House of Mercy, which works at the Orphan Care Center of the Lviv Archdiocese of the UGCC.

Glory to Ukraine!
